February

You know you are in trouble when you have to stop and ask people not just what day it is but also what month.

Yikes.

The world is moving like a rocket and I am trying hard, like you I bet, to keep up with everything.

Lots of my work is swirling around the upcoming release of my fifth novel, Searching for Paradise in Parker P.A.. February hit me upside the head and the release of Paradise, April 1 is not so far behind. Sometime in the next two weeks I will be posting my tour schedule and it's a big one. I hope you can make it to one of my appearances and I'll show you what Paradise looks like - well, part of Paradise because you will have to find your own slice eventually.

Those of you who have seen me at an event know that we usually end up having a really good time while we discuss my books and pretty much everything else and I can guarantee some surprises this time around as well.

I'm also busy working on my sixth novel, The Shortest Distance Between Two Women. That loud noise you may have heard is me screaming with delight about everything that is going on inside of this book. I am having a bit of fun.... okay, lots of fun. As soon as we discover Paradise I will give you some details about what is going on with all the men, women and children that are dancing around on my pages these days.

I just attended a fabulous literary event in Stuart, Florida....I mean wow -- those book lovers know how to throw an event. I have a soft spot in my heart for libraries and the Stuart library and all its supporters have surely won my heart. It was an honor to be a part of their annual BookMania! and I tried not to offend too many people so I can be invited back.

Sadly, before I could get home my father became very ill and my wonderful cousin, Sharon Thessin, drove me 10 hours through the swamps, where I am now helping my mother and working to get my dad better. My parents are snowbirds and I am driving between Destin and Pensacola and we are hopeful that we can get my dad home soon.

Back on the home front daughter Rachel is busy with play practice for the musical Cabaret where she plays a lovely hooker and has already warned me about her skimpy costume. She's also sorting through college materials and keeping us all on the edge of our seats as we wait for more responses.

And in the quest of all things ultimate and wonderful for women, I am hoping you will log on to www.wsj2010.com and sign a petition to allow women ski jumpers in the 2010 Olympics. I wrote a story years ago about a very talented female ski jumper, Karla Keck, who was beating all the boys and would have been able to go to the Olympics if only the men would have allowed her to go. Let the women jump I say, and I hope you will help them do just that.

Here's hoping that you are resting up for a dip into Paradise, that someone you love loves you back, and that you have had the chance in this wild winter to read at least a dozen good books.

Always in a bit of Paradise,
