Yesterday was my baby boy's 19th birthday and that means it's October 1 and I have the right to consider my boy a man….even though he told me that he thinks it's funny that people address him as if he is an adult because he still feels as if he has the heart of a 12-year-old. I hope he always keeps that heart.

Wow -- what a month and year and life. Things are definitely rolling and that is always much more fun than crawling.

I just returned from the Midwest Booksellers Association annual trade show, where I had a wonderful signing and spent an afternoon meeting booksellers from all over the Midwest at a tea (The tea should be a wine event by the way.) It was wonderful to meet all the fine men and women who hand sell my novels and to put in a lively word for the upcoming The Sunday List of Dreams. It was an honor to be invited and I hope I was good or bad enough (wink) to get invited again next year.

My Arizona tour was also a great success -- if not a little on the balmy side. It was 103 degrees when I left Phoenix and 50 degrees when I landed in Milwaukee. Ouch. I signed books all over the valley and then met a terrific bunch of women in Lake Havasu who have touched me in many ways.

All my little Radishes who host a chat room filled with Radish news and their own lively lives had a national get-together in California that I visited via a teleconference. They were having the time of their lives and I thank each and every one of them for what they do for me and my work. Their friendships are an inspiration and if you want to join them, they have an open invitation and you can visit them here.

I continue to do lots of book chats via the phone and how I love to do that. It's a great way for me to meet you and me you as we discuss my books and life and whatever is in my menopausal head at the moment -- beware. I will always do these chats and if your book group is reading a Radish, click on the front of this website or email the site and we will see what we can do.

I am also swaggering through Searching for Paradise in Parker, PA., which is so much fun I have to say I sort of feel guilty every day tiptoeing into my office with my morning coffee and oatmeal to begin writing. This novel will be released in 2008 -- I am always a book ahead of you -- and I am proud of the writing, story line, and all the places and people. Stay tuned for details after the first of the year. But know that this is the focus of my life for the next several months, so if you are driving past please leave something to drink on the front porch - dry red is nice…~!

As we move into the heart of fall I am also busy working on my presentation and readings for The Sunday List of Dreams, to be released in January. I have been re-reading the book and I have to tell you I fall in love with it all over each time I pick up a copy of the manuscript. This story is going to give you something to talk about for a long time and I know it will also make you laugh and cry. Get ready.

In other news, my son is loving college life and working hard. He sent me a lovely birthday note that was a big thank you for giving him the gift of reading as it has made this phase of his life so much easier. He's been out on a few dates (wow), brought home his wash once (not so wow) and is having the time of his life -- as he should.

Daughter Rachel just got two major roles in the high school productions. She will be Elizabeth Procter in The Crucible (tons of lines -- holy cow) and she'll be the blonde bombshell Val in The Chorus Line….(remember the Tits and Ass song?…That's my baby girl..) She's also playing soccer, working and she manages to have a boyfriend and clean her room once a decade.

My partner Madonna gets an A-plus for handling homecoming, the lawn papering adventures and everything else while I was on the road. Maybe you should send her some wine too.

Okay -- I have tons of writing to do and I am going to dive right in. I want you to dive into your own lives as well and celebrate this most fabulous season.

Always,
