This is one of those mornings when the sun is out and the birds are at the feeder and it looks so nice outside that you are fooled into thinking winter will take a detour. But, to this season's credit it could get up to 65 degrees today -- I will believe it when I feel it -- but in the meantime there is plenty of work to do inside this office.October was a whirl of a month but I am thinking that every month is a whirl. This is probably how things will be the rest of my life because that is how they have always been. October started out with a fabulous visit from my agent and friend Ellen Geiger. We plotted and planned and laughed and did a lot of discussing about future projects and all things womanly and fine. My goddess editor, Kate Miciak, was also in Wisconsin for a mystery writer's conference and we had a fabulous lunch meeting with her where all kinds of wonderful Radishing took place. After all of that I hopped on an airplane and flew to Minneapolis for the Midwest Booksellers Association convention, which was terrific as well. It was an honor to be invited and I met so many fabulous booksellers and was able to talk about The Sunday List of Dreams and just a bit about Searching for Paradise in Parker, PA. Most of you know I have a wonderful love affair with booksellers and being able to meet them and thank them is always a bit like Christmas morning. I celebrated National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by having my annual mammogram -- something I BEG all of you to do. I found something suspicious in my left breast which will now be monitored and if I would not have done this -- well, who knows what might have invaded my precious breasts. Take care of this or I am going to make a personal call to your house and drag you to the hospital. And while we are talking about my body, or what is left of it, I also had an appointment with the butt doctor to schedule a colonoscopy. This will be my day before Thanksgiving Day present to myself and please stay tuned for details. Maybe. Just a few details. Or not. In between all of this, and fixing those damn teeth on the right side of my mouth, I did numerous book club chats via the phone and I don't think I would be lying to say that we all had a blast. Remember, if you want to invite me to your book club I am totally up for it. Just send me an email or click on the front-page invitation. What I have mostly been doing this month is writing. Oh, what fun I have been having in Parker. I love it when I am so into a novel that I forget where the car is parked and burn what is on the stove and run screaming from the store because I have a great idea. This is so fabulous for me -- and eventually for you too I hope -- as my writing invades every aspect of my life. I love this story very much and as I bring it to its very interesting end I am always thinking about what you readers might think. And you always tell me which is a good thing. While I work my fingers to the bone on Parker, plans are in the works for The Sunday List, which is set for release on January 23. You can pre-order this spicy book from your favorite bookstore if you want and have it the moment it is released. I will be going on a tour and will have those dates and places for you by January and as if you don't already know this -- I cannot wait to see you and talk about this novel. I am also busy working on a facelift for this web site with my trusty and accomplished webwoman, Beth Tindall. I am doing a photo shoot this week (these are always hilarious) and will have some great new pages for you just after Santa Claus stops by. In other news we are in the last week of rehearsals for The Crucible and I have been doing the lines with my daughter, who has a major role. How does she do this? This is a tough play for high schoolers but they will pull it off. We also had our last outdoor soccer game (Thank God) this week and now move indoor. (Thank God.) My son survived Halloween Weekend at the university, has great mid-term grades, and has not asked for money in two weeks. My partner and manager, Madonna, keeps us all on the right schedule and track and is busy handling appearance requests and making sure I do not answer the phone so that I can FINISH THE NOVEL. Whew. Okay, it's almost time to rush off to hell -- otherwise known as stomach-reduction-exercise (stop-drinking-beer) class. Throw your smile into the early winter sky and know that I am thinking of you. Always,
