Sigh. That's my advice this month for you and especially for me. It's been a whirl of a year but when I stop and take that breath I realize that every year in my life has been a whirl. My dad has always called me a tornado and even in these bad weather times I like the energy that swirls around storms. While you are sighing and sipping throughout the holidays, no matter which ones you celebrate, I hope you have time to read, to think about what you read and to prepare yourself for my new novel -- Annie Freeman's Fabulous Traveling Funeral. Annie and her group of remarkable friends will be waiting for you at your favorite bookstore on January 31 and be prepared for a funeral to beat all funerals. You can get a first glimpse of the book on this website under my publications section and I hope you like what you see. I'll be talking more about Annie next month and about some VERY exciting plans to go along with the release of my third novel. In the meantime there has been no rest for the wicked woman that I am. I have been working on the fourth novel, The Sunday List of Dreams, which is scheduled for release in 2007 and I have started research for the fifth novel and I am beyond excited about both these books. All I can say is - be prepared. My writing feels bolder, wilder, and a bit deeper these days. Don't say I did not warn you. It would be a terrible lie to say that my life is not centered around writing and words and it's true also that I never leave home or sleep or walk or anything without a pen or pencil and a pad of paper in my pocket. Ideas float into my bubbling mind at the strangest moments and I hate to think about loosing any of them especially now that I have taken a swan dive into menopause it's a wonder I can even remember my name. Besides the writing those two teenage creatures called my children filled up every other gap in my life last month. My daughter got another job, managed to survive the first semester of Algebra and looked sinful at the homecoming dance. Her brother got accepted into the University of Wisconsin - Madison which is his first choice college, took a second part time job as a waiter, aced his report card and planned the homecoming dance. And oh yes -- they both tried out and made the high school play that travels to Wales, Ireland and England for almost three weeks in June. Thus the jobs. I'm off to a fine foreign land next week to begin the fourth novel and if you are nice, finish all your wine, and take that sigh I'll tell you next month -- maybe, where I went and a few other remarkable things that will happen during the last days of this glorious year. Merry every day. Happy every thing. And bottoms up…. This month and every month I toast you for reading Radish and being a part of my lively garden. As Always,
